One Year with Remarkable2 : 3 Features I Wish It Had

After using the Remarkable tablet for a year, I’ve grown to love its minimalist design and distraction-free focus on note-taking. However, a few key features could make it even more convenient and user-friendly. here is my wishlist

1. Fingerprint Sensor for Quick Login

A fingerprint sensor would be a game-changer for the Remarkable. Right now, unlocking the device with a passcode takes a bit of time. Being able to unlock it with a quick tap would make it feel as seamless as opening a physical notebook. No typing, no delays—just instant access.

2. Side Scrolling Wheel

Scrolling on e-ink displays is frustrating, especially when reading PDFs or turning pages—it’s often not as smooth as other displays are . A hardware scrolling wheel on the side would solve this issue, allowing for easier navigation. This same wheel could also let you quickly create a new page when needed.

3. Option to Disable Zoom

One of the most annoying things is accidentally touching the screen with two fingers and triggering the zoom in or zoom out function. Remarkable currently doesn’t offer an option to disable zoom, which can be frustrating during note-taking sessions. Having a simple toggle to turn off zoom would significantly improve the experience.

4. Always-Visible Battery Indicator

A key feature I’d love to see is a constant battery indicator. It’s frustrating not knowing the battery level at a glance, especially when in the middle of work. Having the battery icon visible at all times would help users avoid unexpected low battery situations.

The Remarkable tablet is already excellent for focused, distraction-free note-taking and creative work. However, adding features like fingerprint security, a scrolling wheel, and a zoom-disable option would make it even more versatile and easier to use. As technology evolves, these small changes could elevate the Remarkable tablet to an entirely new level. Let’s hope these improvements make it into the next version!
